Baseball / Network Marketing - Any Similarities?

Baseball is the only game where you can be a very successful player, be paid millions of dollars per year, and end up in the "Hall of Fame" being only successful 30 to 40 percent of the time. As of today there has only been one baseball player that was successful 40 % of the time. Success in baseball is measured by your batting or earned run average. You can be GREAT on defense and only be 10 to 20 % hitter; you won't be in the game for long, unless you pitch. Pitchers are the only players that are excluded from being a ‘hitter’; they are measured by a multitude of statistics. If you can pitch and hit too, oh boy. That doesn't happen in today’s player/pitcher market. You are paid to play or pitch, not both.

For this article I am going to only use the batting averages of position players. It is the main criteria used to measure their success. There are just too many variables used for pitchers. I smell another article in the future, so here goes.

Ted Williams is the only baseball player that had a lifetime batting average around .400 or 40 percent. No one else has been close to that magical 0.400 batting average. And no one has ever been voted into the hall of fame with a lifetime batting average under .200, except for pitchers, for the reasons listed above. If you are a 'position' player your degree of success is measured by your hitting average, nothing more.

So success in baseball is somewhere between 30 and 40 percent, plus your athletic ability and some degree of luck in being able to play for some length of time. The longer you play with a batting average somewhere around or better than 0.300, the better your chances of getting into the "Hall".

In network marketing only about 3 percent of the people are successful enough, to make millions of dollars from their business. Well, at least, you don't have to be athletic to be successful in network marketing, but you do have to be active. Much like baseball players the longer you’re in network marketing the better your chances to succeed, too.

“OK, that's it, the end, so long, there are no more similarities”, you say. Not so fast!

Very few if any baseball players make it to the 'show' (major leagues) in ninety days, neither does a network marketer have a flourishing business in that time either.

You say, “OK, that's it, the end, so long, there are no more similarities”, again. I think there are additional similarities, let's see.

Baseball players can take years getting to the ‘bigs’ (major leagues) and make big monies, it may also take years to be successful in the network marketing business and making ‘big’ money. As a matter of fact most MLB ‘drafted’ baseball players, never play in the American or National league of Major League Baseball. They never make it to the ‘bigs’. Kind of sounds like the outlook for someone in the network marketing ‘home’ based business to me. Another similarity, oh my!

Plus, have you looked into the ‘dugout’ at any major league or minor league game associated with Major League Baseball (MLB)? There are managers, coaches, trainers, and other support people, plus the players themselves. Now with all of the support that is available to the players why don’t they make it to the professional level?

There are two possible answers, one is they don’t have the talent and the second is they quit. You don’t have to have talent in network marketing, but you can’t quit and be successful either. Another similarity.

Today, there is a player in MLB that spent 23 years in the minor leagues. He didn’t quit, and he used the support that was there to help and support him. He may have played in the last All Star game, played this year.

There are similar stories in network marketing. Many, many people haven’t quit and are successful today. There are lots of stories about people that have persevered for long periods of time before they became successful in network marketing.

Many of the successful people in network marketing never had any support and they spent years learning successful network marketing skills. Some people have 20 years or more under their belts before they became successful. Their stories are all over the internet as well as here in betternetworker.com.

One of the most recently successful and well know marketers worked for years as a ‘waiter’ before he became extremely successful.

Active individuals and groups can shorten, if not completely remove, the need for you to spend years before you become successful. There is experienced management, coaching and mentoring to help you sharpen your skills and become a truly professional marketing networker. Take a page out of how MLB has built their system of support. Use this opportunity to build your support system, find the management, coaching and mentoring style that fulfills your requirements and meets or exceeds your skill level. Affordable support is available to those seeking to assure their success in network marketing. Taking action and using what is available will get you into the game much more quickly with a higher level of financial success, too. I was able to find a group that will guarantee your success in any MLM business if you are a coachable person and in a business that is structured properly for you to succeed. Should you be interested in acquiring that guaranteed success, please contact me. Where can you find that, these days, "guaranteed success"?

Finally, what is really much nicer about network marketing versus major league baseball is the fact that everyone can succeed, because you don’t have to be an athlete. You just have to have the right attitude and some direction, too. Plus commit to becoming successful in your mind and with your efforts, and sticking with it for more then the ninety days, six months or year or so, some people claim it will take to become successful. Your success may take much longer to achieve. A lot depends on how much effort you are willing to commit too, now doesn’t it? The quote, “Winners never quit and quitters never win”, seems to me to be a good stopping point. Which are you, a winner or a quitter?

Massive Growth Requires Massive Efforts

This post was written an posted on betternetworker.com by me for me and my team. There are two parts. Both part 1 and part 2 are included here. I hope you enjoy the post.

Massive Growth Requires Massive Efforts, not steroids Part 1
(Did you think you could sit and do nothing and prosper?)

The following is a beginning list of things you should be doing in network marketing, just to get started. If you are a person with an established network business, this could be boring. So don’t feel bad about closing and deleting this article. Thanks, but you are also welcome to stay and continue reading, too. Whichever you decide.

I know it looks like a lot and it is, nobody said, “success comes without effort”, did they?

Roll up your sleeves, sit down and get started. Read the entire document before you start, then read it a second time. To those of you that are ‘blue’ types, this means have someone read it to you word for word, twice.

First, get yourself a ‘grown up’ emails account, using your real name. I would recommend that you use Gmail via Google. There are reason’s that will become apparent as you ‘dig in’. The first thing that will become apparent is that you can open a YouTube account right from your Google account after opening up an email account with them. So open a YouTube account. Another benefit from having an account with Google, is that you can also open a ‘blog or blogger’ account from that same Google account. Open one of those, too. As you progress with your efforts you will find there are several other things that are very easy to accomplish using this Google account, and it won’t cost you a dime, but they will save you a lot of time.

Now, do you have a ‘twitter’ account? If not, get one, and then download ‘TweetDeck”. (To turn off that annoying ‘notification’ sound go to ‘settings’ and un-check it, and don’t forget to save.) If you don’t have a ‘facebook’ account, get one and link to twitter via TweetDeck. All of this could take you ten to fifteen minutes to accomplish, as long as you don’t play around with twitter or facebook. Get both accounts in your real name again, not something like, ‘stud muffin’ or ‘hot chick’, use your name. You are in a business you know, or you are starting a business at the very least, lets be professional, eh?

You’re still not through, get yourself an account with Better Networking, and all of the above still applies, here too. This could be the most important of all social networking sites, because it is basically for networking, and making it better. The title should have made that fairly obvious, I would think.

There is just one more step, get a Skype account, too. Follow the link provided below, plus you may have to purchase a ‘headset’ with a microphone, also (Radio Shack carries Skype ready headsets). This is your very last step, and can wait until tomorrow or maybe even the next day. If your computer is equipped with a microphone and speakers you will not need to purchase a headset. However you will still need to down load the service, it’s free.

Contact me, after you have completed all of the above and I’ll be glad to walk you through filling out your profiles in a professional manner, but you don’t need to do it to get started. However, you do need to do it sooner then later.

The list of activities to be done on a daily basis will be posted in another article. The title will be Massive Growth – The List. You may find that it will take some time to download, open and set-up all of the links you will need. Those links are listed below. I would strongly suggest that you be familiar with the use of each website you download before getting the Massive Growth List. Get comfortable with each social platform; it will make your use of the list a lot easier. Your efforts will be rewarded much faster, too.

Massive Growth – The List

Massive Growth Requires Massive Efforts Part 2

This is the final part of the original article, Massive Growth Requires Massive Efforts.

This is the list you need to work daily for Massive Growth.
These are the Massive Efforts required.

Again, these are the minimum requirements for massive growth in the network marketing business. We are talking massive mind and business growth here, not body growth. So don’t forget to get at least 30 minutes a day of some sort of ‘cardiovascular’ exercise. (Eating is only an exercise of the jaw, no cardiovascular stimulation.)

When you first start to work this list of actions you may find that you can only get a few items completed with the time you have available. Just like anything else you have done in the past, you will need to build to this level. Once you get to this level you should experience massive growth. Do what you can to start and then add on daily. Before you know it you will be at this level of effort and you will have Massive Growth. Anythink like this is like eating an elephant, you do it one bit at a time. The same applies here, one step at a time and you will reach your goal

Connect with a hundred active people per day using social platforms, Networkers, direct sales people, anyone that is active. Not your friends, family or co-workers. See the action guide below, to see what I’m doing on a daily basis.

1. Comment on 10 ‘Better Networker’ articles, videos or blogs.
2. Make 25 new contacts on Better Networker, using the new member list. Do not spam* them, just connect with them.
3. Make a new video, write a new article, or enter a new blog daily. You could do each one, if you find you have additional time on your hands.
4. Connect with 15 Network Marketers per day on ‘facebook’ (FB).
5. Comment on 10 posts on FB per day. Again, do not spam*.
6. Post something on FB that is beneficial & informative about yourself for others to learn about you, at least five times per day.
7. Post blogs, videos, articles, etc. on FB, YouTube and twitter. DO NOT SPAM*
8. Connect with 25 per day on twitter.
9. RT on twitter at least 5 per day, RT is visible to the public.
10. Respond to 5 messages you like on twitter using @, the @ is also visible to others.
11. Tweet something 5 times per day minimum.

Should better networker, facebook, twitter, or YouTube determine or decide that you are spamming on their platform, you, your articles, videos, or what ever will be removed, and the account closed. Each of these platforms may have different guide lines as to what is “spam”, and they may not be well defined. Suffice to say, read their ‘terms of service/use’ and avoid this “spanking” action. YOU COULD LOSE VERY VALUABLE INFORMATION.

Cross link between all platforms as much as possible. An example would be: If someone is following you on twitter, connect with them on facebook and betternetworker and YouTube.

If you write an article and post it on betternetworker.com, post in on your blog, and link it to twitter, too.

Do the same with videos, also. You can post either the video or links to it.

All of this cross-linking is time consuming, but is an added bonus for creating Massive Growth.
